It’s that of year again when we, with all our good intentions, list all the various health, self-improvement, and financial goals that we aim to achieve in the coming 12 months. Each year, the same New Year’s resolutions appear – make healthier food choices, exercise regularly, spend less, save more – yet most resolutions are broken within the first 2 weeks. It seems that we all know exactly what we need to do, but the knowledge-behavioural gap is wide, and translating what we know into actions is where we fail. Why Going to the Library is Cool

People usually associate going to the library with studying or with being uncool. But libraries are not just for bookworms; they house an extensive range of media, from archived newspapers, to magazines, music CDs, movies, comic books, anime, software, audiobooks, and more. You can even borrow a digital reader. Plus, there are a whole host of programmes which you can attend (often FOC) to expand your mind, your skills, and your network. For anyone who is looking for inspiration, or even just a good way to pass time, the library should be at the top of their list. I have a confession: I am secretly envious of all of you who are bilingual and multilingual. Yes, I’m Chinese (my grandparents are from mainland China), but my Mandarin is quite poor. Having grown up in the States, I took up Spanish as a second language, but since I rarely used it, most of it has long been forgotten. Lately, I’ve been trying to improve and practice my Mandarin speaking skills.
