If you happen to live or work near a McDonalds, they will be giving away more than 100,000 Egg McMuffins tomorrow (17 March). What’s the occasion? It’s National Breakfast Day! All outlets will be giving out 1,000 Egg McMuffins, except for those at KKH Hospital, Yew Tee (including Yew Tee Kiosk), Tampines Interchange Kiosk, Lucky Chinatown, Clementi Avenue 3, Changi Airport T2 Transit and Science Centre Singapore.
The history of National Breakfast Day, a day that celebrates what some believe is “the most important meal”, dates all the way back to……last year. On that inaugural year, I went for my free Egg McMuffin around 8am, and was surprised to see that there was no queue. In fact, it was rather empty.
Most of the franchises will be open around 7am for breakfast. There are some 24-hour stores, that will start serving breakfast as early as 4am. Last year, most people reported that the queues were very short until about 9am. But as people are more aware of it, I expect there to be a bigger turnout this year.
