The median age of Singapore’s resident population is just over 40. So chances are that you or someone you know is aged 50 and above, and in need of government assistance. You also may know that there are way too many schemes to keep track of (nearly 50 of them). But now there’s a one-stop portal that was designed especially for the older adult and senior population. It’s called Silver Schemes.
About Silver Schemes
Launched a few weeks ago, Silver Schemes is a single holistic and integrated platform for older adults and seniors, managed by the Centre for Seniors (CFS). The site was designed to be really simple and easy to navigate.
The schemes are grouped first by age, then by the following categories:
The most popular schemes are also highlighted at the bottom of the page. These include CPF Life, the Silver Housing Bonus, the FDW Grant, and GST Voucher.
Once you choose a scheme, you will get a brief summary of the benefits and qualifications. Plus, you’ll get a link or contact details of which agency/organisation you would need to approach to apply for the scheme.
CFS is a non-profit, voluntary welfare organisation that manages training programmes, activities and projects that help promote an active ageing culture.
Information on training programmes, volunteering, and employment opportunities are available on the CFS website. There are plans to eventually integrated this information into the Silver Schemes website.
On the CFS website, you’ll also find information about events, including their National Silver Academy Roadshow, where you can learn more about their organisation, and about the new Silver Schemes portal. The National Silver Academy Roadshow will also be featured in the next Frugal Week Planner.
