Singapore Heart Map, an SG50 programme launched last November, invited Singaporeans to share their memories of special places they hold dear to their hearts. Over the last 6 months, more than 80,000 personal stories of places were contributed by Singaporeans from all walks of life. The 80,000 stories shared were displayed in a first-ever crowd-sourced collective map of the most endearing and cherished places of our nation. Over the next 3 months, there will be free guided tours of many of these cherished places. This is a great opportunity to rediscover Singapore, make new friends, and create new memories.
Tours will be held on the following weekends:
- 27 & 28 June 2015 (Saturday & Sunday)
- 4 & 5 July 2015 (Saturday & Sunday)
- 7 & 10 August 2015 (Friday & Monday)
Registration is required (please visit here) and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The tours are divided into 5 different regions of Singapore – (1) South-West, (2) North-West, (3) Central, (4) North-East, and (5) South-East. Most of the tours take place in the mornings, except for the Central region tour, which is an all-day tour.
Highlights include the Singapore Sports Hub, East Coast Park, Jurong Bird Park, Punggol Jetty, Woodlands Waterfront Park, Gardens by the Bay, and Sentosa. The tours will also be visiting several famous and historical hawker centres. There will also be exciting activities, photo-taking opportunities, and free samplings of our favourite local fare. So why not spend the morning/day doing the “touristy” thing and rediscover our home from a fresh new perspective?
